I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #22823) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC #11251084) with the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). My journey studying psychology began over 10 years ago when I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of North Carolina. During this time, I began working in mental health as a behavioural therapist for the Autism Society of North Carolina. After earning my Bachelor’s degree, I deepened my understanding of the mind-body connection by studying massage therapy, yoga, and naturopathy. Following several years of practice as a massage therapist and yoga instructor, I returned to my original passion and obtained a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Adler University in Vancouver.
As a somatic therapist, I draw from my background in anatomy and physiology, along with my training in Somatic Experiencing, a trauma-informed care approach to somatic psychotherapy. I have a passion for helping others overcome life’s obstacles. I take an active, non-judgemental role in the therapy process, working collaboratively with you to enhance your quality of life. As a Queer man, I am particularly dedicated to working with 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals who may face various barriers in accessing Queer affirming care. My focus on somatic therapy and trauma-informed care allows you to learn tools to re-wire your nervous system and develop new, healthier patterns for a rich and meaningful life.

Somatic Experiencing is a body-based therapeutic approach that helps individuals process stress, trauma, and nervous system dysregulation. By increasing awareness of physical sensations, Somatic Experiencing supports greater emotional regulation, resilience, and a deeper sense of safety and connection. This gentle, trauma-informed approach can be especially helpful for anxiety, overwhelm, chronic stress, and unresolved trauma.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a cutting-edge therapeutic approach utilized by Registered Clinical Counsellors that emphasizes mindfulness, acceptance, and behavioral change strategies to help individuals live more fulfilling lives. By fostering psychological flexibility and empowering clients to embrace their values while letting go of unhelpful thoughts and emotions, ACT is often integrated with somatic therapy and trauma-informed care, facilitating meaningful transformation and lasting personal growth.

Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback is a scientifically validated system that utilizes biofeedback technology to help individuals reduce stress, improve resilience, and enhance emotional well-being by synchronizing their heart rhythms with positive emotions. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I find that HeartMath empowers users to cultivate inner balance, leading to greater coherence between heart, mind, and body for optimal performance and vitality. This approach aligns well with somatic therapy principles and supports trauma-informed care, promoting holistic healing.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach employed by a Registered Clinical Counsellor that emphasizes the identification and modification of negative thought patterns and behaviors to enhance mental wellness. By integrating practical tools and techniques, including aspects of somatic therapy, CBT enables individuals to navigate challenges, manage stress, and work towards their goals for a happier, more fulfilling life, all within a framework of trauma-informed care.

Gender-affirming care refers to supportive services that help individuals explore and express their gender identity in ways that feel authentic and grounded. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I offer Hormone Readiness Assessments, utilizing somatic therapy and trauma-informed care to assist clients in navigating clinical requirements thoughtfully and collaboratively.

Neurodivergent affirming practices embrace the unique cognitive perspectives and communication styles of individuals with diverse neurological experiences. At Blue Ridge Counselling, our team of Registered Clinical Counsellors prioritizes creating a welcoming and inclusive space that respects and validates neurodivergent identities. We specialize in somatic therapy options and ensure that trauma-informed care is at the forefront of our approach. Stimming is welcome, cameras can be on or off, and we respect your individual needs.

I provide inclusive, affirming support for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, including gender-affirming care and exploration of identity. I also support clients navigating ethical non-monogamy, relationship dynamics, men’s mental health, sex therapy, and the impacts of trauma on intimacy and well-being.
Chronic Illness, Pain & Complex Health Conditions
Living with chronic pain, chronic fatigue, Lyme disease, CIRS/biotoxin illness, or complex health challenges can deeply affect emotional well-being. Drawing from my background in bodywork, Yoga Therapy, and somatic trauma therapy, I support clients in navigating the mind-body impact of chronic illness with compassion and practical tools.
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I specialize in various areas of mental health while also addressing a wide range of issues. I integrate somatic therapy techniques and prioritize trauma-informed care in every aspect of my practice. Please feel free to book a free consultation to determine if I would be a good fit for you.
